Dubai , 20 July 2006 , eSummer children bring happiness and joy to the Community Centre for the Elderly The eSummer programme, organized by the Etisalat Academy, has toured the children around many fun and educational places in Dubai and Sharjah.

The children's final week to mark the ending of the eSummer programme for 2006 had brought them to the Community Center for the Elderly.

The trip educated the children and brought them even closer to their community.

Dr. Doaa Fares, General Manager "Etisalat Academy" said, "Showing the children that at no cost of effort, everyone should give back to their community in every possible way.

Involving the children in trips like this showed them that there are people of our community that need attention, and to show them that they are not forgotten.

The gesture, organized by Etisalat Academy , has seen key contribution of e-junior, the coolest kids TV in town, an exclusive channel of Emirates Cable TV and Multimedia (E-Vision), the leading Cable TV provider in the UAE.

Tania de Wet, Channel Manager "e-junior said: "We sent our crew to accompany the children in their trip to the Community Centre of the Elderly and film it. The produced video clip will then be shown on e-junior as a filler, aiming to educate the little viewers of the channel about the importance of being proactive in terms of reaching out to the elderly. The message we are trying to lay here is to show our appreciation, respect and love to our seniors who worked hard all their lives for us to avail the decent life we are living now."

Gifts and flowers were given to the children so that they could offer them to the elderly at the centre as a small token of appreciation. Mariam Al Nouri, Owner of Intraflora, donated 100 flowers to the eSummer programme. The children presented the gifts to the elderly by hand. This allowed them to interact with a part of the community that they would not normally meet.

Alanood Al Hashemi, eSummer Project Manager "Etisalat Academy" said, "The smiles that the children brought on each of the elderly was a moment of happiness and accomplishment for the children. The children believed that they helped make someone joyful, even if it were by a small gesture as offering a rose." She also added, "We would like to thank both e-junior and Intraflora for their generous contributions."

This trip was of course not a one-way beneficial process; both the elderly and children gained a lot from the trip. This allowed the children to gain knowledge of their community and taught them to respect their elders. The elderly were overjoyed by the visit and it was marked if the widespread smiles drawn on their faces.
