Dubai, April 28th 2011: The Etisalat Academy – a business unit of Etisalat Services Holding, the Business to Business arm of the Etisalat Group – and Huawei Learning Services announced the founding of the Huawei-Etisalat Alumni Association (HWETA) in Dubai.
The Alumni Association was announced in conjunction with the delivery of a seminar on LTE (Long Term Evolution) held at the Etisalat Academy, where the impact of LTE and its imminent launch globally was explored in detail. LTE is part of the GSM evolutionary path beyond 3G technology, and its overall objective is to provide an extremely high performance radio-access technology that offers full vehicular speed mobility and that can readily coexist with HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) and earlier networks.
“As information and communication technologies continue to develop and the business environment constantly changes, enterprises need to enable the facilitation for employees’ self-learning and capability development activities; to support corporate strategies while improving employee and organizational performance. Huawei Learning Service aims to associate with Etisalat’s strength in that area and with the search of continuous competence improvement”, said Mr. Frank Guo, Vice President of Huawei Learning Services.
Mr. David Brennan, General Manager of the Etisalat Academy commented, “Being Etisalat a company that is continually looking for better ways to deliver value to its customers, is a natural move to look for associations with other leading companies with similar objectives; Constant Innovation, Continuous Learning and Genuine Commitment have motivated us to tie up with a leading technology company like Huawei to offer world-class learning experience to our employees.”
The Alumni Association is one element of the Huawei “Competence Development Project”, whose goal is to establish a long term partnership with operators and promote the continuous improvement of competencies.
The “Competence Development Project”, is based on constant communication, continuous learning, and competence development within the organization. This will be facilitated through an e-learning portal that will be hosted by ETAC. The platform will facilitate self learning, mentor guidance and the distribution of e-learning material and provide technology updates and explore the latest trends in the telecom world market.
The partnership between the Etisalat Academy and Huawei will be reinforced when the first LTE certification Program is launched worldwide; the program will be delivered regionally through Etisalat Academy.
